Clearwater Inspections

In an effort to eliminate clearwater (storm or rain water) from entering the sanitary sewer system, the City of Sheboygan has implemented a clearwater inspection program.  The State of Wisconsin has directed the City of Sheboygan as well as other neighboring communities to reduce the amount of clearwater entering the drain system.  To comply with this directive, the City of Sheboygan requires that any property that is being sold or conveyed needs a clearwater inspection.

Changes in 2012

Starting January 1, 2012, the City of Sheboygan will be charging a fee for a Clearwater Initial Inspection of $40.00 SMC 26-1008(i).  This initial inspection fee also includes a re-inspection if required.  If the property is not brought into compliance upon the re-inspection, another $40 inspection fee will be required for every inspection thereafter until the said property is brought into compliance.  The fee is required to be paid before a Clearwater Inspection appointment can be scheduled.

The Building Inspection Department does not accept credit/debit cards, but does offer an additional service allowing individuals interested to escrow funds to be used to schedule appointments, rather than sending separate checks or stopping in our office each time.  Please contact the Permit Clerk at 920-459-4064 if you are interested in developing an escrow account.
